GHANA HIGHWAY AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES LANE REDUCTIONS AT TETTEH-QUARSHIE INTERCHANGE FOR BRIDGE EXPANSION WORKS
The Ghana
Highway Authority (GHA) has announced a temporary change in traffic flow on
a key section of Accra’s roads. If you use the Tetteh-Quarshie Interchange
or the Accra–Tema Motorway, you’ll want to pay attention to this!
This is
part of the ongoing Accra–Tema Motorway and Extensions Project, which
will improve over 19.5 kilometers of road. The main goal is to ease
traffic, improve safety, and help people move between Accra and Tema more
quickly.
As part of
this huge project, engineers will start building strong pillars to hold up the
extended Tetteh-Quarshie Interchange Bridge. That means they need space
in the middle of the road to build strong support structures for the new
bridge.
Starting Sunday,
22nd June 2025, the number of lanes in both directions — from Madina to
Accra and Accra to Madina — will be reduced from four (4) lanes
to three (3).
- This lane reduction is temporary,
but it will last for four (4) months.
- It will give construction
workers enough room to do their job safely.
- At the same time, it helps protect
drivers, passengers, and pedestrians who pass through the area.
How Will This Affect You?
If you
travel on this road whether by car, bus, or even as a pedestrian you might
experience slower traffic and longer travel times during rush
hours. That’s why the GHA is urging all road users to:
- Be extra careful while driving through the
construction area.
- Follow all signs and
instructions
from traffic management officials.
- Cooperate with police and road
officers who
are directing traffic.
- Consider using alternative
routes if
possible.
- Leave earlier than usual so you’re not late.
A Call for Patience and Cooperation
The Ghana Highway Authority, on behalf of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, is asking the public to remain calm and patient while these improvements are being made. Even though the road changes might seem like an inconvenience now, they are part of a bigger plan to make our roads safer, faster, and more efficient in the future.

1. Does the image accurately represent the headline’s message?
The image clearly shows the start line of the 3FM Tour du Ghana, with visible branding of 3FM 92.7 and Tour Du Ghana, matching the headline and main story of the event. It accurately reflects the start of a major race.
2.
What emotions does the image evoke?
The
image evokes a sense of anticipation, excitement, and community energy. The
setup, banners, and gathering of people suggest a big event is about to take
place, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm in viewers.
3.
Is the image manipulated or biased?
The image does not appear to be manipulated or biased. It is a straightforward,
wide-angle shot that neutrally presents the race’s starting point. It doesn’t
distort or push a specific agenda it just documents the event’s beginning.
5. Does the image add depth to the story or simply reinforce the headline?
The image primarily reinforces the headline. It visually supports the information about the race taking place but doesn’t add deeper narrative details like emotion, competition that the full story later describes.
6. Would a different image change the reader’s perception of the news?
A photo showing cyclists in action, the diverse participants, or crowds cheering might make the story feel more dynamic and emotionally engaging. This image sets the scene, but doesn’t show the race’s energy or impact.
7. How does the image compare to others covering the same story?
Compared to action shots or emotional moments like winners crossing the finish line, para cyclists riding, this image is more formal and structural. It’s one of many used in a coverage but serves as a solid opener or context image.
8. Is the image culturally or politically significant?
It represents national pride, youth involvement, and community engagement in Ghana through sports. It subtly reflects societal support for climate awareness and inclusion, which aligns with the “Pedalling for the Planet” theme.

PROFESSIONALIM AT UNIVERSITY OF GHANA MEDICAL CENTER (UGMC)
1.
Does the image accurately represent the headline’s message?
If
the headline was related to a medical achievement, surgical breakthrough, or
healthcare training at the University of Ghana Medical Centre, then yes, the
image accurately represents that context. The scene clearly shows a team of
doctors performing surgery, reflecting a real, high-level medical setting.
2.
What emotions does the image evoke?
The
image evokes emotions such as trust, professionalism, hope, and seriousness. It
reflects the precision of medical care, potentially making the viewer feel
admiration or reassurance about the capabilities of healthcare professionals in
Ghana and subsequently changing our mentality that doctors abroad are the best.
3.
Is the image manipulated or biased?
The
image a realistic capture of a surgical procedure, showing a diverse team in
action. There’s no visual element suggesting distortion or framing in favor of
a specific agenda, though it does highlight the competence and collaboration of
the surgical team in a positive light. Therefore the image isn’t manipulated or
biased.
4.
How does composition affect storytelling?
The
composition is strong and focused. The lighting centers on the surgical area,
subtly drawing attention to the seriousness and detail of the procedure. The
inclusion of medical monitors in the background and the visible branding of the
University of Ghana Medical Centre further establish context and credibility.
This
image adds significant depth to the story. It doesn’t just say healthcare is
advancing, it shows it. The visual detail of skilled professionals at work, in
a real-life setting, makes the story more engaging and trustworthy.
A
photo of just the hospital exterior or doctors posing might not have the same
impact. This image creates a sense of immediacy and professionalism, making the
viewer take the content more seriously. A different image might make the story
feel more generic or less credible.
Compared
to other news sources covering similar medical milestones at the University of
Ghana Medical Centre, this image stands out for its authenticity and
action-focused composition. It aligns more closely with journalistic coverage
(e.g., CitiNewsroom) that emphasizes professional competence and the
seriousness of the medical achievement.
It
highlights Ghana’s growing medical capacity, international collaboration and
potentially reflects public investment in healthcare infrastructure. It carries
a subtle message of national progress and the importance of medical education
and services in Africa.
