MANHUNT UNDERWAY AFTER MINNESOTA DEMOCRATIC HOUSE LEADER KILLED IN ‘POLITICAL MOTIVATED’ ATTACK

A statewide manhunt is in progress for 57-year-old Vance Luther Boelter, the primary suspect in a pair of politically motivated shootings that left two people dead and two others seriously wounded.

 

What Happened

 

On the morning of June 14, 2025, authorities say Boelter fatally shot a State Representative Melissa Hortman,the top Democrat in the Minnesota House, and her husband, Mark Hortman,  inside their home in Brooklyn Park. Earlier that same night, State Senator John Hoffman and his wife (Yvette) were also shot at their Champlin residence. Both survived after undergoing emergency surgery.

 

When police arrived at the Hortman residence, a person dressed as a police officer—believed to be Boelter—opened fire and fled the scene. Authorities are investigating whether he used a latex mask to disguise his identity.

 

A Hit List and Motive

 

Law enforcement discovered a “hit list” in Boelter’s vehicle containing the names of nearly 70 individuals, including public officials, abortion providers, and political figures such as Governor Tim Walz, Senator Tina Smith,and U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar.

 

Investigators also recovered multiple weapons, anti-government flyers, and writings indicating Boelter was targeting lawmakers who supported abortion rights. The phrase “No Kings” appeared repeatedly in his materials, suggesting anti-authoritarian motives.

 

Who Is Vance Boelter?

 

Boelter is a former member of Governor Walz’s Workforce Development Board and worked in private security. He once ran a Christian non-profit and was affiliated with a Minneapolis security company. Though he previously had ties to progressive organizations, he was last registered as a Republican.

 

Public Safety and Response

 

Governor Walz condemned the shootings as an  act of political violence and urged residents to remain alert. Because the suspect posed as law enforcement, officials have asked the public to verify police identities before opening doors. An amount of $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Boelter’s arrest.

 

The attacks have drawn national attention and sparked bipartisan concern over the escalation of politically motivated violence in the U.S.A.
